Pillars of Jewish Heritage

Caring for our community’s elderly is a cornerstone of Jewish values and a vital part of building a compassionate, connected community. The older generation is the foundation of our heritage and the keeper of our stories.  It is essential to ensure they are loved, respected, and supported. Through thoughtful programs and personal outreach, we strive to brighten their lives, ease loneliness, and honor their contributions by surrounding them with warmth and care.

The JDC leads hands-on activities at nearby care centers that bring meaning and enrichment to the lives of the many participants. In addition, our Shabbat-in-a-Box program brings the joy of Shabbat to those who need it most. Each package, thoughtfully prepared by our team, includes fresh-baked challah, sweet kugel, and comforting chicken soup. Delivered personally by our volunteers, these visits provide not only delicious food but also a sense of connection and care.

Our most heartfelt offering is the Shabbat and holiday at-home visitation program. We transform loneliness with one-on-one visits filled with warmth and companionship. Whether it’s leading up Rosh Hashanah, Sukkot, Chanukah or Purim, or connecting before Passover and Shavuot, our dedicated staff and volunteers create meaningful moments that uplift and brighten the lives of many of our community's elders during the Jewish holidays.
