Picture this scene: A woman enters the Mishkan, her heart breaking from years of childlessness. She stands before G-d and prays with such intensity that her lips move but no sound emerges.
Watching her is Eli, the Kohen Gadol – the holiest man of his generation, trained to discern the spiritual from the mundane.
And yet... he completely misreads the situation.
"Until when will you be drunk?" he confronts her. "Throw off your wine!"
